Natural Gas Trivialities

• In 200 B.C., people in China used natural gas to make salt.

• In 1816, gas was first used to light street lamps in Baltimore, Maryland. 

• Natural gas use has increased by 35 percent over the past ten years, and is projected to grow 45 percent by 2015.

• Natural gas is colorless and orderless. Utility companies add mercaptan which smells of rotten eggs to help make gas leaks eaiser to notice.
